Isn’t she adorable?

More images to follow. This is just a sneak peak of some  portraits of the ballet dancers who will be appearing in this year’s production of “The  Nutcracker” to be seen at the O’Reilly Theatre in Dublin on the 21st November next.

The ages of the dancers involved ranged from 3 years right up to 18 years and over. The whole production is being run by Hilde Van Den Bergh, who is putting a monumental effort into it.

The shoot was all done  on site and in they came,  as mice, soldiers,  snowflakes  and dressed in their little tutus.

I first met Hilde when I photographed her daughter Claudine about two years ago. The second image below is one of the images.  She also has a major role in “The Nutcracker”. The second image below is one of the images . I have photographed her a number of times since and even shot a short film with Claudine. Just a very short inspirational piece that I shot using the canon 5d mark 2 and canon 7d. I have yet to edit it but watch this space!

The images below show Andrew, Christopher, Dylan, James and little Cassie, the only girl!

I was asked to design a multi frame containing 16 images so when I get it next week I will blog some images.

Because the shoot is not studio based it is easier to do this by using your surroundings. It is one of the advantages of shooting portraits outside of the studio setting. I am not saying one is better than the other, I am just saying it’s different.

So when I photograph I shoot with a story in mind.

And as I shoot I imagine how the images might work together in a multi-frame or in an album.

I let the story unfold in a natural way.

Of course the creative story-telling  does not stop once the shoot is done. I often design multi-frames for clients. It can be hard for clients to visualise these collections of images so this makes it easier for them.

Take for example the multi-frame below. I love the fact that my framed images are entirely bespoke. There are no pre-made templates or ready-made frames because of course each shoot and each story is unique.

I am not the cheapest but nor am I the most expensive. But my approach to each shoot will be unique and I offer a completely bespoke service with an amazing high quality product. Oh and I don’t do hard sell…..

I love their expressions and the sparkle in their eyes.

Bless her little tootsies.

I had photographed little Isobel but her Mum wanted images of her and her cousins, Conall, Eoghan, Hugh and Fionn. It was shot in the grounds around their house which were amazing. Makes you wonder why any of us want to live in the city

We didn’t forget the puppy! She made sure she licked my camera and all my lenses

At least that’s what it felt like when I photographed  Ashling, Laura and Fiona last weekend.
