This last one from Shirin and John’s wedding which took place at the Ritz Carlton in Powerscourt, Co Wicklow.

A gorgeous Queensberry 12″ x 12″ matted album with microleather eggshell cover. It works well with the cover motif and ivory matted pages.

Ceremony took place at Letterkenny Cathedral in  Co Donegal and the reception at the Solis Lough Eske.

The ceremony took place at the Holy Trinity Abbey in Adare, Co Limerick and the reception thereafter was at Adare Manor. It was last summer so guests mingled in the fabulous gardens until they were called for dinner.

Melissa got ready in Adare Manor’s Presidential suite also know as the Clinton suite. It’s a gorgeously opulent room with beautiful wood and ceiling carvings.

Now here is a wedding album which I did as a sample album. I like to keep my album designs simple and elegant. Let the story breath.  I also prefer matted albums over digital albums as you get a lovely texture and feel to the matted pages.

This album is a beautiful 12″ x 12″ Queensberry matted press album with a black silk cover. It has ivory matted pages.

I only use Queensberry for my albums and press books.

I have blogged about Queensberry’s press books before but thought I would do so again.

Thing is you can now get the press books with the same covers ( leathers, silk etc) that you get for the albums.

In a word, lovely, as you have more possibilities to customise.

The press books also come in these beautiful Japanese -inspired Mayu cases  These come in a whole load of colours. We chose “iron sand” which is like a charcoal/black colour.

Karin settled on the cherry classic genuine leather cover Why? Because of the red colour of the flowers and just under her dress. Their names were embossed on the front cover. Yes these are little things but they do mean alot. This is not a “one size fits all” approach.

One other thing, my clients are London-based, so had to approve the book designing via email and internet. We were able to do this easily. Furthermore they could have visited one of Queensberry’s UK  (Thanks Jo!) agents to see the swatch book of covers.

Whilst the albums are more luxurious and have a range of different covers, the books by their nature are more accessible and affordable. They hold more images, and they’re as comfortable with text as with pictures. They can be used as companions to albums or as an alternative to the albums.

The best way to show off that story is in a proper album. There are many album suppliers out there and each photographer will have have a preference, but for me it has always been Queensberry. They are based in New Zealand so yes it’s a long way to go, but worth every penny.

Sometimes people just want a dvd of high res images and no album. I can understand this as people are price conscious, but this is a pity.

Seeing the images like this in a wedding album really shows off the story, and elevates the significance and value of the imagery. Why?  Because images really shine when they are laid out in printed form. Images on a dvd often stay like that, on a dvd in a drawer, where there is no sense of completion or context.

It is a 14″  x 10″ sized album with micro leather cover and ivory matted pages. As usual the standard of print quality and album material and assembly was amazing. Of couse yours truly had to tell the story in the first place and provide high quality imagery

Wedding took place at Powerscourt House

Images were from an engagement portrait shoot I did a few months ago.

The album comes from my album manufacturer, Queensberry. It is a 10 x 7 demi album which comes in a velvet or cotton bag and holds 11 images. The album is always designed so that there is a blank side on each spread to allow wedding guests to write some nice comments. This particular one was passed around at the pre-dinner reception and I think again during the speeches. It’s a nice keepsake I think. What do you think?

As always the standard and quality of Queensberry’s  albums was excellent.  It’s great to see my clients’ reactions upon seeing their album.

The images always look better when you see them for the first time as real prints in a beautiful album. The colours and black and whites are punchy and pleasing to the eye.  The album’s feel and aroma are luxurious. This is how it should be

I love the last image in the album which you can see in the last image below. It’s what I call my  “fade out”  image. As photographers we must tell a story, and so the story should flow and make sense.
